DESSANGE Spa, Salon and Health Club donated BD11,000 to the Bahrain Cancer Society at a ceremony at Al Bander Hotel and Resort, Sitra, yesterday. The money will be directed to the Salmaniya Medical Complex’s paediatric oncology ward. The donation was presented by Al Ghalia project development manager Suzanne Gissing Yousef to society vice-president Dr Ali Mirza and society members Shaikha Wafa bint Abdulla Al Khalifa and Adnan Al Qassab.

The money was raised at the first annual Zumba for Charity event held at the resort lastmonth. About 300 people attended 12-hour, non-stop spinning and Zumba fitness classes. Zumba for Charity was part of Al Ghalia’s annual fundraising drive which consists of a series of charity events that aim to “Give Back” to the community. As part of the initiative all seven of Al Ghalia’s outlets take a turn to donate a day’s revenue to seven children’s charities in Bahrain. Every dinar customers spend on that day is donated to help disadvantaged children in the local community.
